This c.1924 cloche hat of fine beige straw is decorated with velvet flowers. These iconic 1920s helmet like hats were in fact worn from 1908-1933, but are most commonly associated with the 1920s, helping to achieve the desired silhouette of the era, pulled down over the eyes, it could also add height to the wearer and allowing cropped hair to fit neatly underneath.
During the first half of the twentieth century, handbags really were just that, a bag you held in your hand. Not designed to carry a great deal, perhaps just a lipstick and a powder compact, they were for fashion rather than function. This 1930s rare cream alligator skin bag fastens with a flap and a small carved ivory figurine keeping it secure.
